Christmas Pictures.

Red One Shoulder Dress: Forever21.
Black Tights: Mom's.
Black Velvet Shoes: Thrifted.
Cameo Clip-On Earrings:Thrifted.

Just yesterday my little sister Gracie and I got our pictures taken professionally, my mother wants to send out Christmas cards this year. I think they turned out quite lovely! We went to a place called Portrait Innovations, and they were extremely busy even though we had an appointment. Picture this: screaming babies, schedule running a half hour late, some impatient parents = chaos!

I love this dress though that I wore, and is among my list of all time favorites. I'll actually be wearing it for Christmas this year as well! I tried to style myself somewhat vintage looking, and the photographer said I even looked like I was from the 1940's! This was great to have someone get the look I was going for :)
The photographer's name was Grace, and she suggested that sometime I should come in and I could get my picture taken in some of the vintage dresses I have. They could do all kinds of special affects to make the picture actually look vintage as well! This made me so excited, and maybe sometime in the future that would be possible!

The Dress.

This would be the beautiful, stunning, gorgeous vintage dress I was talking about the other day! Isn't it just breath taking? I ended up going back with my mother to the store, and bringing this beauty home with me. It needs a few alterations; particularly under the arms it's too big. Other than that, this little jewel is in perfect condition and all mine! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Houndstooth Dress: Kohl's.
Black Tight's: Mother's.
Black Boot's: Gaberial Brother's.
Black Turtleneck: Kohl's.
Silk Bow Headband: Forever21.
White Necklace: Mother's.

The middle picture is my little sister ,Gracie, and the far right is of my mother! ( Sorry I didn't get a picture of you dad...)

I had a very lovely one today myself, and I had much to be thankful for! All my family is healthy, I have a warm home, food on the table, and people who love me. Who could ask for much more? Thanksgiving is so much more meaningful to me as I get older each year than when I was just a child. It really is about thanking God for all the good things he gives us..

Today was very enjoyable for me though, and as soon as I woke up I smelt something very familiar: PUMPKIN PIE! Ahh,one of my most favorite deserts that only comes around once a year! My dad was busy baking all this morning, and in the afternoon we travelled a whole five minutes to my great aunt's house for dinner. It was so nice to see all my family; aunts, uncles, and cousins, especially my cousin Samantha who went away to college this fall. When it was time to eat we all joined hands and said grace, and then move on over for the stampede! I myself aren't too much of a Thanksgiving food eater, but I did get one of my favorites; yams! I don't eat turkey, but I did manage to get a picture of the "Icon of Thanksgiving" before it was cut!

About an hour later we had desert; if we couldn't button our pants (dress in my case), after this there was no way we were ever going to! My favorite fall treat, pumpkin pie, is what I attacked first, and piled the fluffy and delicious whipped cream a mile high. Mmmm it was delicious! The rest of the day we just visited, and it was like everyother Thanksgiving; adults arguing about politics, grandpa falling asleep, and that content feeling in your stomach. You know, I really wouldn't ever have it anyother way though, and don't know what Thanksgiving would be without these comforting things!

I was sad though that I didn't get the chance to go to my other grandmother's house for Thanksgiving, for I went to visit my boyfriend for awhile and his family. I will see plenty of my grandma tommorow though, because tommorow is "national shopping day",(actaully known as BLACK FRIDAY!) I better get to sleep...tommorow is a big day that starts at 5 o'clock for me! :)

A Lucky Day of Thrifting..

Today was really my lucky day! It was officially my first day of Thanksgiving Break, and to start it off my grandmother and grandfather invited my sister and I to spend some time with them. First, this morning we went to Applebee's where we did some catching up; all of us have been so busy! It was nice just to talk about life and eat at my favorite restaurant :)

Next, though was the part that I had really been looking forward to; thrift shopping! There is probably only one decent "vintage" store you could call it in my town, so off we went to this little jewel! The place is called What Goes Around, and was created to help get money for Hospice, which helps people with diseases. It opened about a little over a year ago, and since then has been my favorite go to spot for old things. Never before there have I had so much luck though! As soon as I walked into the store, my eyes zoned in on two vintage hats; one of my favorite things to collect! One was a lovely, little hat that was decorated with flowers and sat at a tilt on your head. The other was was equally gorgeous; it was navy and white with a veil (perfect condition!), and had a small bow with little jewels. This was the first time I had found real vintage hats at this store before, and believe me I was estatic! Already on a "vintage shopping high,"I continued to look around the store when I stumbled on the dress.

This vintage dress I found was STUNNING! The length was floor, and it was black material and covered in these very intricate designs of lines of black beading. There was so much beading that the dress weighed a ton! The top of the dress was no more less exquisite than the bottom; it was adorned with beautiful, sparkling sequins and beading with gold and silver accents. I tried the dress on and felt like a glamorous actress from the 1930's,and thought I was happy until....

...My grandfather brought me that hat in the pictures above! I then truely fell in love :) The hat fit perfectly with the dress, and made me feel like a million bucks! Although the dress tag said it was a large, and I wear a medium, the fit wasn't too bad,but it could be taken in a bit under the arms. And just when you thought that I couldn't fall even more for this dress and hat, the price put the cherry on top! Can you believe that the hat was only $4?? The dress was $20, which I could NOT believe; this thing could have been hundreds of dollars! Sadly though, the dress did not come home with me, you can't get everything you want sometimes. However, it might be comming home with me very soon; my mother and I are going to look at it again on Friday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get to take this dream dress home!

As if I wasn't on cloud nine already, I went to another antique/vintage shop across the street from What Goes Around. This place was amazing, every thrifter's fantasy. The interesting things in the store were just never ending, and I don't think I closed my mouth the entire time...
There were so many nick nacks and baubbles in this store that I just about went nuts, hopefully I can take pictures sometime so I can show you; for I am at a loss for words! The stand out piece at this store though was the beautiful red brimmed hat from the 1950's. It was made of straw, wide brimmed, with a red ribbon at the top, and even a ribbon to tie underneath your neck. This store was a bit more pricey that the last though( but proably the actual price for real vintage hats), and I sadly had to leave this beauty behind also. The store owner did go down in price though on it from $30 to $20, so maybe it will show up under the Christmas Tree yet..

Time will tell...

Black T-shirt: Buy 1 get 1 free JcPenny's.
Skirt: Free!
Shoes Deb's( For only $1!)
Belt: Walmart.
Leopard Scarf: Found at a track meet in the 8th grade :)
Today I got a lot of comments from people at school how they can see me being a high powered business woman. Ha! That would be one field of work I would never want to venture into. I always dislike when people ask the dreaded question for high schoolers, " and what do you want to study in college?" Ugh, I hate it! I have a few ideas, but none are very certain yet..
1. Be a stylist. What I would really want to do, and it would be a job I would enjoy. The only problem is that it's not very practical that I would ever make it; the fashion business is extremely selective. All the rejects work in retail, and I'm not paying thousands of dollars to go to college to do that!
2.A Spanish Teacher. I love foreign languages, and they come rather easy to me. I've always pictured myself being a teacher, and it would be wonderful to teach something I love. I would also get to study abroad in college, which would be an amazing experience! The downside to this job though, it that it is quite boring, and I'm not sure if I would be fully happy.
3. A Translator. This job goes along with my love of foreign languages, which I would get to perform everyday. I would get to travel the world, see new people, and new things. I hope to someday have a family though and settle down, which this job would make very hard to do so!
Maybe I won't even choose any of these jobs, who knows! Only time will tell..

Two more days!

Pink sweater: Old Navy.
Flower Skirt: Forever21.
Nude colored Pumps: Thrifted.
Strand of Pearls: Thrifted.
Brown Belt: Kohl's.
Pink Sunglasses: Gabriel Brother's.

Only two more days until I'm off for Thanskgiving Break! I'm having a hard time keeping my focus at this last strech of time; but I really need to stay with it! I have alot of tests these upcoming days.( The grading period ends on Tuesday; therefore, teachers are rusing to get in grades.)

I'm am excited for something else though other than break that my mother told me yesterday; we're getting our pictures taken! She wants some Christmas cards to be sent out this year (hahaha...), so my little sister and I will be getting a few pictures professionally done. The reason why I am excited is because I will get to wear this dress I oringinally got for homecoming this year. I did not wear it because I had ordered it offline, and it didn't quite touch my knees, which was a dress code rule for the dance. I kept it anyways because it was so gorgeous and now the perfect time arose to wear it!

It's a deep red satin with rosetts decorating the bottom, which flairs out. The dress is a one shoulder dress, and the one shoulder is decorated beautifully with a burst of matching rosetts. A large satin bow belt ties around the waist to complete this stunning dress! I'm going to pair some black opaque tights with it, and also these shoes I got from my church garage sale. There have a small heel, and are black velvet with tiny silver circle pendants on them. They are the perfect big girl Christmas shoes! Hopefully, I can post pictures of the pictures after we get them taken :)

All I want for Christmas..

...Is some vintage inspired clothes! These pieces have really on my mind lately, and are currently all on my Christmas wish list! All of them except the first dress are from Forever21, and the first dress is from Charlotte Russe. Since I'm a teenager, money doesn't exactly grow on trees for me, or my family either. I only have a few real vintage dresses, and the store I buy them at is not close to my town. So, many times I can not dress in authentic vintage; however, I often buy pieces that are vintage inspired. Forever21 would definitely be my go-to place for this! They have some stunning clothes there( if your willing to look through the huge store!), at great low prices. I'm already making up outfits in my mind with these pieces...

The Maxi Dress.

Printed Maxi Dress: Kohl's.
Red Cardigan: Gabriel Brother's.
Cut Out Wedges: Forever21.
Cream Camisole: Aero.
Brown Bead Necklace: Forever21.

In the summer time, one of my favorite things to wear was a maxi dress! They were airy, comfotable, and lovely to wear; however, summer doesn't last forever! Here are a few ways though that you can transition your maxi dress from summer to winter/fall...

1. Add Jackets or cardigans, they make the outfit look less summery and more structured, they also keep you warm! Make sure you wear a belt or button them though because the maxi-dress is flowy, and you don't want to look like a blob!
2. Scarfs really add pop and pizzaz to the dress, and puts a new twist on it that you couldn't do in the summer. Big, bulky scarfs work perfectly wrapped around a few times!
3. Necklaces can make an ordinary maxi-dress into something stunning also. Try a statement necklace that really stands out.
4. You can't exactly wear your sandals or gladiators in the winter snow now can you? Of course not! High heel pumps, or boots are a nice alternative. No furry boots though!
5. Confidence is all that's left that you need to rock it!

Thinking Of You.

Whether you like the singer Katy Perry or not, you must watch her music video of, Thinking Of You, right away! It is my favorite music video of all time, and very inspiring towards vintage clothing. I want to take every single outfit out of the video and wear it myself!
The story is set in the 1940's in the midst of World War 2 raging. Katy's lover was sent off to the war to fight, and throughout the video,Katy has flash backs of memories with him. In the video she has the most darling saddle shoes, play suits, and floral cotton dresses, with perfect hairstlyes to compliment all of it! My two favorite looks though have to be at the swing dance, and at the very end of the video, where Katy wears a stunning veil hat and red lipstick. Hopefully when you watch the video, you fall in love with everything in it like I have; it's hard not to!
